The response curve is not decoration over the faders — it is the same five gains drawn a second way, smoothed through the fader centres so a boost sits directly above the fader that made it and the fill closes on the 0 dB line, which is what makes a cut read as a hole. Nothing here is a preference. Both columns hold the same 47 coloured surfaces. The difference is how many PLACES the decision was made: 47 literals are 47 decisions, and a missed one does not error — it just sits there quietly wrong until a dark-mode hover exposes it. One token is one decision, which is why the right side was finished before the left side had opened its editor. Consistency grows up from the bottom of the ladder, or it does not grow at all.
One date picker, six Mondays. Each panel is a moment where ownership stops being philosophy: the owned answer arrives with a RECEIPT (+2 −2 shipped today, −214 lines, one cherry-pick) while the rented answer is a workaround, a wait or a fork. The sixth Monday is this era's: an agent edits the source that actually runs, or guesses against a memory of some version.

Owning the source is not building from scratch, and it is not forking either: upstream stays a diff SOURCE — read its changelog, merge the capabilities worth having into your component. The unit of an upgrade is a capability, not a version. What is actually expensive is the middle position: not owning it and still needing to bend it.

Not one of the left column's choices is wrong on its own. That is the point: divergence is what ten reasonable decisions taken independently look like, so “please be consistent” cannot produce consistency and three written lines can. Consistency is a codex problem, not a talent problem — and not a model problem either.

The metric is deliberately not time: “decisions taken by you” is COUNTED from the lines each transcript attributes to you, so the number cannot drift from what is drawn. The argument is identity, not file formats — whether “the current version” names something a machine can find.

None of this is about Excel being a bad program. It is about an attachment being a COPY: the moment a document travels as one, “which version is true” stops having a mechanical answer — and every habit a team invents to compensate (a naming convention, a shared drive, one person who remembers) is an unpaid version-control system with no diff.

Both designs fill up; only one can afford to choose what it loses. A window that starts at 88% has no compaction strategy available to it, only eviction — and eviction is how a run ends up paying twice for the same file.
Every panel ends with the codex line the failure produces, which is why this is not a list of warnings but an account of where a codex comes from. The entry requirement is that a failure survives careful reading — anything you catch by looking harder belongs in review, not here — so every catch names a mechanism rather than an attitude.

None of these is caught by being careful, which is why “review it properly” is not a plan. Each is caught by a mechanism, and each mechanism is one line long — so a codex is not a document somebody sat down to write. It is the transcript of the times you were fooled.
Six decision points rather than six tips: each panel shows the screen exactly as it appears, marks the ONE span to read, and reveals what a wrong yes costs. Five are the agent asking you; the sixth is you about to paste something, which is the only risk no permission prompt will ever stop.

A first day spent learning features produces someone who can drive. A first day spent learning where the wheel gets handed over produces someone who can be trusted with it — which is the only one of those two people a company can actually deploy.
Every panel operates on the SAME five lines of spec, so six slogans become six operations you can watch happen to one paragraph: diff marks two lines, blame hangs a name on each, review pins the argument to line three, revert puts a line back, branch grows a proposal beside the text rather than beside the file, and the gate flags the line that rotted. Each panel also names what you do today without it.

None of these is a feature of Markdown. They are properties of keeping ONE copy in a place that records every change — which is why the format argument is the small half of this, and the storage argument is the whole of it.
The first layer of the agent lineage as a field guide: role, examples, output contract, reasoning-first, quoting the data, temperature. Every panel draws the same 15-column strip, so six techniques read as six reshapings of one thing — the room the prompt leaves the model — and one clock engages them in turn. One context window read as an attention U-curve: the system prompt and the question you just asked sit at the strong edges, the file you pasted sits in the trough, and a token strip underneath dims with the same curve. The third CRM card: who can see which record, and which layer decided. Access is not a setting — it is computed per record by layering profile (a ceiling), record owner, org-wide default, role hierarchy, sharing rules and team shares, where the most permissive layer wins and only field-level security subtracts. Pick a person and a record and the stack resolves live: a VP cannot see a CS rep's case, peer AEs cannot see each other's private deals, and an SDR reaches a deal only through the opportunity team — still capped to read, with the amount masked.
